The January 2017 issue of National Geographic features what is truly a very sad situation. Avery Jackson is featured as a 9 year old “transgender girl.”1 This is extremely sad on several accounts. First it is very sad that a young boy (That is right, I said boy.) would be so confused. What is even sadder is the state of our society, exemplified by National Geographic. Because of political correctness, and denial that there is truth, young Avery is not getting the help that he really needs.
According to the story, Avery Jackson is “a girl who until 2012 lived as a boy.” Right there, that shows you where Nat Geo is coming from. The reality is that Avery is a boy, who starting in 2012, has been living as a girl. That tells me that when Avery was five, Avery’s parents let him decide that he was a “girl.” I am a parent myself. I understand that there are some things you do not let your children decide. If I let my son decide what he wanted to do with his life, he would never do his homework, he would never go to school, he would spend all of his time playing with his friends and playing video games. But I have to be the parent. I have to look ahead and think about things that he cannot think about yet. If Avery continues down this path, he may someday be able to adopt children. But he will lose his opportunity to have his own biological children. Avery is not female and can never be a biological mother. The only opportunity that Avery has at becoming a biological parent is to be a biological father. And his parents are going to allow him to eliminate that as an option for his life, at five years of age? At five years of age I did not think I would ever get married or be a parent. When I was in my middle twenties, I still was not sure that I wanted to be a parent. Then by the time I was in my latter twenties, I knew more what I wanted. I wanted to be a father, and now am.
But it goes even further than that. The truth is that Avery Jackson is male. He has XY chromosomes. Letting him dress like a girl, giving him hormone treatments, and even doing surgery does not change that. He will simply be a male that dresses female, has had hormone treatments, and has had surgery. And there likely will be long term health consequences to having this done. On an upcoming episode of the radio program that I co-host – Believing the Bible– Carl Williams, M.D. discusses some of these health issues and some of the unknowns.2 We do know that athletes taking steroids has very negative long term health effects.
Nat Geo deliberately convolutes the issue by discussing Georgiann Davis.1 According to the story; Davis “was born with an intersex trait known as CAIS (complete androgyn insensitivity syndrome).” Sometimes something in nature does go wrong. But what was done to Davis was criminal. Davis was not told of his condition. That is right, I said “his” because Davis has XY chromosomes. At 17, Davis’ undescended testicles were removed and he was told it was surgery for ovarian cancer. It may have been possible to do corrective surgery and allow Davis to live as a male and even become a father. But Davis was never given that opportunity. But these cases of actual ambiguity (which is not the case for Avery) need to be treated on a case by case basis. And it makes me angry that decisions are made for minors that eliminate future options. But that is what happens when decisions are made based on political correctness.
Avery’s parents, Tom and Debi Jackson, obviously do not have a biblical world view. And it would not surprise me if they profess to be Christians. And maybe they are. But is it really their fault if they do not believe the Bible? According to a BBC story earlier this month, women are getting smaller pelvises – showing “human evolution”.3 According to the story, because caesarean sections save mothers who have smaller pelvises (and their babies), these woman are not being eliminated through natural selection. This is a clear cut case of the Darwinists again using equivocation and extrapolation. They use the term “evolution” for woman getting smaller pelvises and then say things like “You can see evolution happening” to argue for the General Theory of Evolution, which is all of life on this planet coming from a “simple” single celled organism. When challenged on this, they will argue that the little changes (such as women having smaller pelvises) add up to big changes, such as fish eventually turning into people – just given enough time. That is extrapolation to the nth degree; and is bad science. In the article, Dr. Mitteroecker even says “There are limits to that. So I don’t expect that one day the majority of children will have to be born by [Caesarean] sections.”
According to a CNN story also earlier this month, scientists found tail feathers in amber.4 And according to the story, discoverers just “know” that the tail feathers were from a dinosaur that lived 99 million years ago; and show that dinosaurs evolved into birds. The question is: Where is the dinosaur? They are just assuming the feathers are from a dinosaur. The Darwinists are very anxious to prove that dinosaurs evolved into birds and it is leading to some really bad science.
So what does all of this have to do with transgender issues? These are two stories from just this month. People are constantly bombarded with Darwinism. And most churches are either just turning a blind eye, or are accepting this – as the Pope just did.5 So it is not a wonder people do not have biblical values on life, marriage, and sexuality. They do not believe the Bible. Psalm 119:105 states “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.“6 The Bible will guide us if we believe it and follow it. But if people do not know it, or if people do not believe it; they are not going to follow it. They will follow secular humanistic philosophy which is what Isaiah 50:11 warns about – “But watch out, you who live in your own light and warm yourselves by your own fires.”7 And the church is a part of the problem.
So is your church teaching parishioners that they can believe the Bible? How are they dealing with these issues? Or are they dealing with these issues at all? Talk to your church leaders about this. Find out about the nearest biblical creation organization and how they can help your church. Look for opportunities. Here in San Antonio, there will be a couple of opportunities coming up. On February 23, the Truth Project by Del Tackett will be showing a documentary at movie theaters – Is Genesis History?8 There is also a San Antonio Biblical Worldview Conference, Feb. 10 & 11, 2017, at the Faith Lutheran Church, San Antonio, Texas.9 If you are in the San Antonio area, talk to your church leaders about this. If you are in another area, again look for opportunities like this to talk to your church leaders. See how open your church is on this issue. Again, does your church teach that you can believe the Bible?
