Are you aware of what your children are watching? Note that I did not ask “Do you know what your children are watching?” You may know what your children are watching and may miss the messages if you are not tuned in to what is going on.
Being aware of materialistic philosophy, I am very cognizant of some of the materialistic messages in children’s shows. Materialistic philosophy is the belief that matter and energy are all that exist – there is no life after death, no supernatural, and certainly no God. The General Theory of Evolution (all of life on this planet evolving from a “simple” single celled organism) and the big bang theory are actually products of materialistic philosophy. They are attempts, apart from the Bible, to explain how we got here. You should be aware of this if you believe “God used evolution to create man.”
Indoctrination in materialistic philosophy begins very early in school – and everywhere else you turn – including children’s television programming. I was watching Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – “Of Rats and Men” with my son. A line spoken by the Rat King was “The human species is coming to an end. It is time to advance the next phase of evolution – rodents shall rule!” The Cartoon Network’s Regular Show – “Cool Bikes”, had the line “The concentration of coolness so dense at the park, it will implode into a coolness singularity – a black hole from which no coolness can escape.” – a reference to the big bang theory.
These were just a couple of references that I happened to catch. Who knows how many other references are made? Start paying attention and see what references to materialistic philosophy you can catch. Contact your nearest Biblical creation organization. Ask your church leaders why they are not addressing this and partnering with the local Biblical Creation organization to inform Christians on how to deal with this.
I have a strong message for the materialists who are leading children from the truth of God’s word, as well as church leadership that just sticks their heads in the sand and refuses to deal with this. But it is not really my message. It is a message from Jesus – “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Matthew 18:6, NIV.
