Without doubt, all of Hillary’s lying and scandals was the deciding factor in this close election – from her blaming Benghazi on an internet video1 to the Clinton Foundation’s “Pay to Play.”2 Hillary Clinton will unlikely be prosecuted for any of her actions. But her losing the presidency was her punishment. I do not know if this is a direct punishment from God, or it is just a natural consequence of sin. Yes, that is right. I used the “s” word; even though I know liberals do not believe in sin because they do not believe the creation account in Genesis. The Bible teaches us that we can suffer for doing right. But the Bible teaches us that we can also suffer for doing wrong. I Peter 3:17 makes both of these points in one sentence – “For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.”
What concerned me most about Hillary, that you did not hear as much about, was how she was in total disagreement with founding fathers Thomas Jefferson, James Madison3, and James Monroe4 about the rights of conscience. In April 2015, at the Women in the World Summit, Hillary stated “Far too many women are denied access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth, and laws don’t count for much if they’re not enforced. Rights have to exist in practice—not just on paper. Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.”5 This is the liberal’s idea of “tolerance” – making everyone agree with them. And we have already seen this with local and state governments punishing business owners who will not cater same-sex “weddings”6 and college students7 who do not embrace the LGBTQ agenda. It is all about worldviews. Jesus explained this in Matthew 6:22-23 – “Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!”8
You know that from my February 28 article, “Trump Success – Nothing New Under the Sun!,”9 that I am not a big Donald Trump fan. I did vote for Trump because the alternative was Hillary. So I have a stern warning to Republicans who are celebrating victory. The entire book of Jeremiah is about God using the Babylonians to punish the Israelites for their sin and rebellion against God. Jeremiah 25:9 states “I will gather together all the armies of the north under King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, whom I have appointed as my deputy. I will bring them all against this land and its people and against the surrounding nations. I will completely destroy you and make you an object of horror and contempt and a ruin forever.” But then Jeremiah 25:12 states “Then, after the seventy years of captivity are over, I will punish the king of Babylon and his people for their sins,” says the Lord. “I will make the country of the Babylonians a wasteland forever.”10 Jeremiah chapters 50-51 are entirely about God punishing Babylon for its sin and godlessness.11 So God used the Babylonians to punish Judah. Then God punished the Babylonians. So Republicans, do not become the Babylonians. You have the opportunity to do the right thing. And you will be accountable.
