In the recent controversy in regards to the efforts to protect religious freedom in Indiana and Arkansas, I must say that I am very disappointed in Wal-Mart in the stand that they took against Christians having the right to live according to their faith. I am an admirer of the late Sam Walton and shop at Wal-Mart.
But this is what I need to understand and what everyone with a biblical world view needs to understand. Those who do not have a biblical world view cannot get it – even if they profess to be Christians. That is why Barrack Obama is wrong on so many things. He professes to be a Christian. But he is a Darwinist and does not really believe the Bible.
The interesting thing is that the homosexual activists themselves must deep down know that they are wrong; because if you listen to them, they are never forthcoming with what is really happening. They use straw man arguments when they talk about businesses refusing to serve homosexuals. Businesses are not refusing to serve homosexuals. The florist in Washington State did business for years with the homosexual who wanted her to do his “wedding.” So she was not refusing to serve homosexuals. She just did not want to do a same-sex “wedding.” From the biblical perspective, providing service for a same-sex “wedding” is an impossibility anyway; because that is not what a wedding is. I am sure that is equally true for other businesses as well. They do not ask people their sexual orientation when selling them a product or a service. They just do not want to do same-sex “weddings.”
I googled the phase “What people do in the privacy of their own bedrooms is their business.” Putting the phrase in quotes, I got 156,000,000 hits. That is the mantra that we heard from the homosexual activists for a long time. But how does “what people do in the privacy of their own bedrooms” fit in with gay pride parades and gay pride festivals? How does that fit in with Catholic adoption agencies being forced out of business for not adopting out to same-sex couples? How does that fit in with a college student being threatened with not being graduated for not joining in a class project to write a letter to the state legislature supporting adoption for same-sex couples? How does that fit in with a psychology student being dismissed from a program for not counseling same-sex couples? How does that fit in with elementary school kids being taught it is acceptable if Billy has two mommies or Suzie has two daddies? How does that fit in with CEOs being forced to resign for using their own money to support the position that a marriage is between a man and a woman? How does that fit in with an insurance company manager being fired for writing an article against homosexuality on his own computer on his own time, without making any reference to the company he worked for? How does that fit in with tax payers being forced to pay for “sexual reassignment” surgery for prisoners?
Are you getting the picture? The homosexual activists are not about tolerance. They are about forcing everyone else to accept and even promote homosexuality. That is their idea of tolerance. I could talk about James Madison and the First Amendment. I could talk about Thomas Jefferson, the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom and the Rights of Conscience. But at its very core, this is what the debate is really about:
18 “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in Him. But anyone who does not believe in Him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. 19 And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. 20 All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. 21 But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.”
John 3:18-21 NLT
The homosexual activists cannot handle anyone making any kind of a statement against homosexuality or in favor of the biblical world view of marriage or sexuality because they do not want to be confronted with their sin. Do not get me wrong. I will be the first one to admit that I am a sinner. That is what Christianity is about. We are all sinners that need a savior. Jesus of Nazareth is that savior. One of my demons is anger. It is a challenge for me to control my anger. But it would not help to just say that is the way I am and try to force everyone else to promote uncontrolled anger. The only hope that I have is to admit that it is a sin and turn to Jesus for forgiveness of that sin. I will always struggle with that sin. But a person that is spirit controlled can at least keep their demons on a leash. That is what I look to do.
This is the biblical world view. But people with a biblical world view cannot expect others to have biblical values if they do not believe the Bible. And if you do not believe the Bible starting with Genesis, you do not believe the Bible!
