On May 20, 2015, President Obama made his address to the Coast Guard Academy about climate change? Really, Mr. President? Is this our biggest problem now? Is this how you want to inspire graduates of our Coast Guard Academy?
But to understand President Obama, you need to understand that he is a Darwinist – and what that means. In an interview with the York Daily Record, March 31, 2008, then Senator Obama stated the following:
“I’m a Christian, and I believe in parents being able to provide children with religious instruction without interference from the state. But I also believe our schools are there to teach worldly knowledge and science. I believe in evolution, and I believe there’s a difference between science and faith. That doesn’t make faith any less important than science. It just means they’re two different things. And I think it’s a mistake to try to cloud the teaching of science with theories that frankly don’t hold up to scientific inquiry.”
So it is clear that Obama is a Darwinist. He tries to throw Bible believing Christians like myself a bone when he says “That doesn’t make faith any less important than science.” But if you listen to what he is saying, he is saying that faith is groundless. If something is true, it is true, whether it fits into the category of science, history, philosophy or religion. And if it is not true, it is not true. Faith that is not grounded in truth really does not have any importance.
But the President’s thinking is incredibly inconsistent. If Darwinism is true, then we are really nothing more than animals engaged in a battle of survival. So why should we even concern ourselves with our impact on the environment? All of our activities should just fit right in with the balance of nature. A lion is not required to get a hunting permit to kill zebras. And it is not given a limit on the number of kills. A beaver is not required to do an environmental impact statement before building a dam. So if we are just animals, why should we be any different?
But it is the Bible that teaches us that we are not just animals; that we are special beings created in the image of God. The fact that we even have these debates proves the truth of the Bible. Do you think chimpanzees or whales are having debates about the environment?
Psalm 8 teaches us that God made this planet for man and has given man dominion over this planet. Again, Darwinists see man as just another animal. But again, many of these same people see man as a problem – an inconsistency. They do not think of this planet as being here for man. So they use the issue of global warming/climate change to promote this agenda. According to NASA, average global temperatures rose 1.4 °F from 1880 to 2013.1 I do question this. I would think temperature sampling would have been somewhat different in 1880. But let us say this is true. My question is “Why is the temperature so stable? Why has it not changed more?” I find that absolutely incredible given the changes that could occur merely as a result of sun activity.
As a person who believes the Bible teaches that the earth is only a few thousand years old, I believe it is not a coincidence that this planet has a sun that has been able to sustain life for the last 6,000-12,000 years. To sustain higher forms of life, this planet had to get enough energy from the sun to maintain liquid water this whole time, but without having one solar flare that would fry the planet. This is absolutely amazing. But again, from a biblical perspective, this makes sense. In Genesis 8:22, God promised “As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.” – NLT. So as a Bible believing Christian, I believe it is God that has maintained this planet.
Darwinists have an even bigger problem. They believe life on this planet has been evolving for the last several hundred million years. To go several hundred million years with a sun this stable is even more implausible. If you ask them about it, they will give an answer something like this: “With all of the planets out there in the universe, this had to happen some place. So earth is where it happened.” I think of Paul’s Letter to the Romans – “Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. “ Romans 1:21a NLT. Philosophical materialists, almost all of whom are Darwinists, just totally fail to acknowledge or appreciate what God has done to maintain this planet for us. As a result, their worldview is totally skewed. They are worried about climate change rather than what is really destroying our society now – like the breakdown of the traditional family.
