In January, on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, New York passed a law eliminating restrictions on late term abortions – even allowing babies born alive during attempted abortions to just die.1 A Born Alive Survivors Protection Act was introduced in Congress – which addresses doctors letting babies die when an abortion fails to kill the baby.2 Virginia Governor Northam had made comments supporting letting these babies die. But the bill was blocked.3 The Texas Legislature passed a similar bill…..
In my e-mailings, I receive Que Pasa, a newsletter from the San Antonio Baptist Association. In their June 11 e-mailing, they had a segment on an article “The 2019 Most Post-Christian Cities in America.”1 Instead of just asking people how they identified themselves, Barna researchers looked at certain criteria; basically how people actually live their lives. I think it is notable that Springfield-Holyoke, MA was rated number 1, given that Massachusetts was founded “for the glory of God, and advancement…..
I have mixed feelings about a story in the news recently. Nevest Coleman recently got his job back as a grounds keeper with the Chicago White Sox after being wrongly imprisoned for 23 years for a rape and murder conviction.1 While I am very happy for Coleman that he was exonerated by DNA evidence; and I am happy he has back the job he loves and is getting on with his life; I am very angry that he was convicted…..
On March 22, 2015, I posted an article “Senator Uresti Needs a Criminal Background Check!”1 Texas Senate Bill 204, which was passed in 2013, required me to get fingerprinted for a criminal background check because I am a licensed professional engineer. There was not any such requirement for lawyers. I made three attempts to contact my state senator, Carlos Uresti about this – two e-mails and a phone call to his office. He never did respond. Guess what his occupation…..
These past few days, three notable people that I obviously did not know personally, but know about, passed away – Florence Henderson, Ron Glass, and Fidel Castro. I was really into the Brady Bunch when it originally aired. So of course, to me Florence Henderson was Carol Brady; although I understand she was an accomplished performer.1 Ron Glass was a very fine actor that I remember as Detective Ron Harris on the show Barney Miller. But Ron Glass really displayed…..
My wife wanted me to watch The Incredible Hulk with her. I am not one to watch fictional movies. But I did want to please my wife so I agreed to watch it with her. This led to her getting mad at me. At a certain point in the movie, when Bruce Banner “hulked out,” I told my wife to pause the movie. I am an engineer. So of course, as an engineer, I was compelled to explain to my…..
The Bible is quite often criticized for some of the hard things in it, particularly in the Mosaic Law. There are a lot of things to be said about this. Paul, in his letter to the Romans, discusses how the law shows us our sin. Dennis Prager is making some of the harder verses a discussion point for his program, showing that when you really dig into it, the verses make a lot more sense and represent a giant step…..
